With the release of the first teaser trailer for Transformers: Rise of the Beasts, fans now get an exciting sneak peek at the 90s nostalgia and new cast of characters in this edition of the Transformers movie series. This expansion is intended to be the first book in a new trilogy that continues the story from Bumblebee from 2018. This film will introduce two new Transformer factions: the violent Terrorcons and the animalistic Maximals, both of which were inspired by the 1996 television series Transformers: Beast Wars. For followers of the larger Transformers universe, this image of Optimus Primal, commander of the Maximals, in all his might, is an exhilarating moment. In the same way as Optimus Prime is the leader of the Autobots, Optimus Primal is the leader of the Maximals; the name is not a typo. The Maximals, a group of Transformers descended from the Autobots who continued to defend their homeland against evil powers, appeared in the television series.
The trailer doesn’t explicitly state it, but it’s likely that the Maximals are from a distant time becauseeffectively with Ron Perlman’s portrayal of Primal alerting Optimus Prime about the threat from “both your past and future.” The key distinction between Maximals and other robots is that they choose to morph into animals rather than vehicles, which explains the sight of a massive robotic gorilla battling Optimus Prime.
